Types of Questions You Can Ask

“How can I help when the person I care for seems restless or unsettled?”
“What are some gentle activities for someone with memory loss?”
“How should I respond when the person I support is feeling anxious?”

Ask Follow-Up Questions

You can keep the conversation going by asking for more detail, simpler steps, or extra ideas.

Examples:

"Can you give me three more ideas?"

"What's a gentle way to explain this?"

Tips for Getting the Best Advice

  • Be specific: Share details about the situation (time of day, environment, behaviours).

  • Include preferences: Mention what the person enjoys, dislikes, or responds well to.

  • Ask for examples: “Can you give me three ideas?”

  • Reword if needed: Try a different way of asking if the first answer isn’t quite right.
