at VGM, OUr GOal IS TO...

The daisy serves as the symbol of palliative care. At VGM, we adorn the doors of our palliative care residents with daisy wreaths to foster awareness and increase our staff's sensitivity to the requirements of both residents and their family and friends.

Upon the passing of a palliative care resident, we initiate a "Code Daisy." Our personnel lines the hallways of the designated house as the resident is accompanied out of the facility.

We also possess a quilt crafted by local women in our community, featuring meticulously hand-stitched daisies. This quilt is on display as you enter our building, on our Palliative Care Board. We use a beautiful daisy blanket to drape over the stretcher as the resident departs the building.

You matter because you are you, and you matter to the end of your life. We will do all we can not only to help you die peacefully, but also to live until you die

Palliative care can offer assistance in the following areas:

  • Effectively addressing pain and managing symptoms associated with the illness or its treatments.

  • Furnishing social, psychological, emotional, and spiritual support.

  • Empowering patients to lead as active and fulfilling a life as possible.

  • Providing guidance to caregivers, including advice from medical and healthcare professionals.

  • Ensuring a serene and dignified end-of-life experience.

  • Extending support to a patient's family both prior to and following the patient's passing.

We understand the importance of keeping families connected during these challenging times, and our guest family room is a testament to our commitment to supporting the emotional and practical needs of both residents and their loved ones. This thoughtfully furnished room features two comfortable chairs that can easily transform into beds, a fully functional kitchen, and a well-appointed bathroom equipped with a shower.
